Annual Awards for Contributions to the Field of Technical Communications
The ACM SIGDOC Executive Board welcomes letters of nomination for the SIGDOC Rigo and Diana Awards. The Rigo Award celebrates an individual's lifetime contribution to the field of information design, technical communication, and online information design; the Diana Award celebrates the contribution of an organization, institution, or business.
Evaluating Sources of Information
We live in an information age. The quantity of information available is so staggeringly huge that we cannot know everything about a subject. For example, it's estimated that anyone attempting to research what's known about depression would have to read over 100,000 studies on the subject. And there's the problem of trying to decide which studies have produced reliable results.
Guidelines for Evaluating Work with Digital Media
These guidelines from the MLA Committee on Computers and Emerging Technologies (CCET) deal with the hiring, reappointment, tenure, and promotion processes, are designed to help departments and faculty members implement effective evaluation procedures. These guidelines were approved by the MLA Executive Council at its 19-20 May 2000 meeting.
